The PTAL Approach
Please Take A Look (PTAL)'s approach to bringing digital advertising to Web3 involves:
Reducing the role of oligopolies with data transparency
The dominance of a few major players like Google and Facebook can lead to a lack of competition, where prices are higher and innovation is stifled.
With on-chain representations for advertisers and publishers, interested parties can look for each other in an open market without interference or censorship. The permission-less nature of blockchains provide security that participants will have a difficult time enforcing agreements such as exclusivity partnerships at the technical level.
Along with their on-chain representation, some level of advertising activity data is also published and associated with each representation. This brings a certain level of data transparency and accountability to all market participants and will help reduce advertising fraud. Each advertiser or publisher can choose what data to publish, with the counterparty deciding if they want to transact based on the level of available information.
To achieve this, PTAL will create a decentralized and permission-less data layer to bring transparency to the market.
Create trust through decentralized moderation
Brand safety and ad fraud are two of the most pressing issues facing brand advertisers and publishers. The current best practices of automated checking are prone to loopholes and issues are discovered only when they become a PR concern.
PTAL will apply a staking + validator mechanism, similar to Proof of Stake consensus mechanism, where publishers and advertisers will stake tokens to underwrite their honesty, while a network of moderators will check the advertising for truthfulness, similar to the role of validators in PoS networks.
This moderation can apply to both Web2 and Web3 advertising and can work with any existing advertising network.
To achieve this, PTAL will utilize a combination of smart contracts, ZKPs, and workflow tools to provide timely and verifiable moderation.
Web3 Native Ad Units
In addition to display, text, and video ads, PTAL will create Web3 native ad units, which will seamlessly show up in the user's web3 journey.
The first Web3 ad unit will be sponsored NFTs, based on the ERC-6551 standard, which would allow profile pictures to feature branded messages to their viewers
To achieve this, PTAL will create a wrapped token standard, where existing NFTs can be wrapped to indicate they are now ready to display advertising.
